What is the NuvaRing?
Many may be familiar with the popular birth contraceptive, NuvaRing. It is a birth control contraceptive which is inserted into a woman’s vagina and releases low doses of hormone to prevent pregnancy. The device is normally implanted for a period of 3 weeks before it is removed for a short period of time, generally 7 days beforea new one is inserted. Despite advocates who believe that this device is more effective at preventing pregnancy when compared to oral contraceptives, such as the “birth control pill”, there have been overwhelming clinical studies that reveal that there are serious side effects associated with the use of this product, including the risk of developing venous thrombotic embolisms, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
